The High Line is getting company of The Low Line
I love how the New Yorkers don’t waste space, even when it’s old and long gone. The High Line, an old train track that was turned into an outside park, is spectacular. I walked the High Line last September and thought it was beautifully designed. Now a new similar idea has come to mind. Sitting below Delancey Street is a vast trolley terminal that has been left abandoned for the last 60 years. The terminal (approximately 2 acres) once operated cars that crossed the Williamsburg Bridge to Brooklyn looping back. New York City’s Lowe East Side (LES) wants to attempt to mimic the westside’s High Line by building the Low Line, an underground park. I can’t wait for it to be finished.

Secret train platform beneath The Waldorf-Astoria, New York
A view of the long-abandoned Waldorf-Astoria train platform, which allowed VIPs to enter the hotel in a more private manner. The mysterious track, known as Track 61, still houses the train car and private elevator. It was was used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, possibly to hide the fact that he was in a wheelchair suffering from polio. Interesting don’t you think…
